Job Duties Include:

  • Receives blood products collected by manual and automated methods.
  • Prepares and labels various blood components.
  • Selects and processes apheresis platelet for pathogen inactivation, including qualification calculations, instrument preparation, illumination process and required quality control of the products.
  • Quarantines components unsuitable for shipment.
  • Assures that blood products are stored appropriately.
  • Performs various lot release activities on a daily basis and as needed in the director’s absence.
  • Performs troubleshooting activities related to product manufacturing and computer entry errors.
  • Prepares export products and associated forms of shipment.
  • Assists with the training of new employees.
  • Performs QC and maintenance. Reports malfunctions or deviations to the director.
  • Reviews daily product QC as needed in director’s absence.
  • Monitors and maintains inventory of supplies. Reports inventory levels to the director.
  • Coordinates courier pickup and delivery schedules as needed in the directors absence.
  • Delivers and picks up blood, blood products, samples and/or other blood bank supplies as directed.
  • Maintains a clean, safe and organized work environment.
  • Other duties as required to fulfill the organizations mission, vision, and values.

Qualifications: 

Education: High school or equivalent experience
Licensure: None; prefer current driver’s license in good standing
Experience: 2 years general work experience; prefer healthcare or manufacturing, plus I year blood banking or other regulated manufacturing environment

Physical Requirements: Medium Work:  Walking and/or standing for extended periods of time with occasional sitting. Occasionally exerting between 20-60 lbs. of force to lift or move objects.
