Position Description:

Registers, screens and collects blood from volunteer blood donors via manual and automated methods.

Full Time, Job Shift - Varied to meet department needs

Education:

High school or equivalent experience; prefer phlebotomy certification

Licensure:

None; prefer medically related licensure or certification

Experience:

6 months  donor phlebotomy required; PLUS 1 year phlebotomy, medical, customer service or other equivalent experience. Completion of phlebotomy training program considered in lieu of phlebotomy experience.

Essential Functions:

  • Greets and registers donors and patients. Assists with various donor recruitment activities.
  • Determines donor suitability.
  • Performs phlebotomy for the collection of whole blood units or samples. Operates automated equipment to collect red cells and plasma.
  • Provides post-donation care and instructions, including treatment of adverse reactions.
  • Assures proper storage of blood during collection operations and prepares for transport.
  • Performs QC, maintenance, calibration and validation of section equipment. Reports malfunction or deviation to crew chief.
  • Monitors and maintains inventory of supplies. Reports inventory levels to crew chief.
  • Meets established collection goals.
  • Assists with the training of new employees.
  • Maintains a clean, safe and organized work environment.

Essential Functions:

  • Utilizes assigned donor list to contact and recruit volunteer blood donors including face to face contact during donation as possible.
  • Makes appropriate database entries to record results of recruitment calls.
  • Ensures that each donor is scheduled at the appropriate fixed site and at the appropriate donation interval.
  • Returns calls from the donors responding to recruitment calls.
  • Maintains and updates database of volunteer blood donors.
  • Meets established recruitment goals and standards
  • Assists the telerecruitment supervisor with various recruitment and donor retention programs as assigned.
  • Responds to calls for assistance with the donor portal and rewards store as assigned.
  • Provides clerical and administrative support for the telerecruitment team.
  • Maintains a clean, safe and organized work environment.

DUTIES:

  • Consults with the CEO to provide financial analysis and strategic direction on projects, product development and growth opportunities.
  • Responsible for ongoing accounting functions for the organization including but not limited to:
    • Accounts Payable and Receivable;
    • Cash management and daily cash flow analysis;
    • General ledger management; and
    • Period-end financial statement preparation and analysis.
  • Oversees the organization’s banking activities including:
    • Dailey revenue receipts and posting;
    • Dailey fraud management; and
    • Monthly reconciliation.
  • Oversees internal and external auditing activities.
  • Oversees preparation of the annual financial statement and the 990.
  • Maintains the organization’s contracts.  Assists operation management teams regarding vendor contract negotiations and compliance, as necessary.
  • Oversees annual budget preparation.  Provides periodic budget variance analysis.
  • Establishes and maintains accounting systems to assure appropriate internal controls.
  • Responsible for the management of the organization’s fixed assets and financial records.

  • Schedules blood drives to meet goals and to maximize utilization of staff and resources.
  • Establishes, develops and maintains long-lasting relationships with donor chair people and members of the donor groups.  Provides appropriate training, mentoring, motivation and guidance to ensure successful blood drives and the continued support by the group.
  • Communicates with chair people about the SCBB mission and vision.
  • Oversees recruitment activities of the on-site recruiters.
  • Meets established recruitment goals and standards.
  • Responsible for tracking daily, weekly and monthly goals vs collection data to ensure recruitment goals and standards are met.
  • Analyzes existing donor group activity and develops strategies to increase penetration rate, efficiencies and effectiveness.
  • Utilizes effective prospecting strategies to recruit new donor groups.
  • Maintains and updates database of volunteer donor groups.  Utilizes blood bank software to meet collection goals and to enhance blood drive efficiencies.
  • Works collaboratively with Communications, Donor Services and Volunteer Services in promoting and executing blood drives.
  • Regularly participates in community events to enhance community awareness of SCBB and blood donation programs and activities.
  • Participates in activities to further professional development.
